Overview
Located in the vibrant Fann Hock neighborhood of Dakar, Senegal, Villa Fann Hock is a three-story residential residence designed to maximize a compact 200m² corner plot. Situated at the intersection of two low-traffic streets to the north and west, the project is a study in urban sensitivity. The architectural mission was driven by a commitment to complement the existing urban fabric rather than clash with it. The result is a home that serves as a quiet landmark, honoring the specific spirit and geographical context of the "Cap-Vert" Peninsula while providing a modern, private sanctuary for its inhabitants.

The design of Villa Fann Hock is defined by a soft, organic approach to urban volumetry. Departing from the rigid angles often found in dense city environments, the building features distinctive rounded corners that allow the three-story structure to sit fluidly within its corner site. This curvilinear geometry creates a sense of continuous movement and softens the building's impact on the streetscape.
The material and color palette are deeply rooted in the local landscape. The villa’s upper volumes are finished in a warm, sun-drenched palette of ochre and terracotta, directly referencing the earthy tones of the Dakar peninsula. This "warmth" is anchored by a monumental enclosing wall crafted from rugged red stone. This highly textured, tactile base provides a sense of permanence and security, creating a striking visual contrast with the smooth, refined curves of the floors above. By blending these primitive textures with contemporary forms, the project achieves a sophisticated balance between architectural innovation and a profound respect for its Senegalese heritage.
